Network segment calculation description

How to calculate IPv4 and IPv6 CIDR network segments

Enter the IP address and prefix length, and calculate the number of canonical network segments, address range, mask and address, which is suitable for network planning, access control and routing configuration.

CIDR prefix

The numbers after the slash indicate the length of the network bits. The IPv4 range is 0–32 and the IPv6 range is 0–128.

Network and Host Bits

Fixed high-order identifies network segments, and the remaining low bits are used for addresses within the network segments; the longer the prefix, the smaller the available address range.

IPv6 Differences

IPv6 does not use the IPv4-style broadcast address, and the page displays the starting address and the end address of the network segment.

IP/CIDR Calculator Frequently asked questions

/24 How many IPv4 addresses are there?

There are 256 addresses in total. Traditional subnets usually deduct network addresses and broadcast addresses, but the rules for scenarios such as point-to-point may be different.

Will the calculation result be uploaded?

Not. CIDR calculations are all performed in the current browser.
